After a long day of travel, we settled into the comfort of Robert's Restaurant. Service was professional and gracious. The portions are not large, but they are tasty. Syeak frites with a hollandaise sauce, roasted salmon with Swiss chard, and duck confit were all well presented and delicious.
We were staying at the hotel and it started pouring so we decided to eat in vs. venturing out in D.C. We were pleasantly surprised with the food and once we got seated - had very good service. My husband and I split the ceasar salad, crab cake appetizer and a filet. Our daughter had kid's mac-n-cheese which had a gouda taste to it she really enjoyed. I would say the steak was up to par with other decent steakhouses and less pricey. I would definitely eat here again if the opportunity presented.
Friends enjoyed the crabcakes. Caesar salad was not tossed with the dressing -- not appropriate for this type of salad. My steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce tasty. Dessert of espresso donuts was overcooked and dry and they were stingy on the sauce which could have helped the dryness at least a bit.
Very centrally located in aN awesome historical hotel. Restaurant has good ambiance but closer look it's a tad shabby. Very kid friendly staff went out of way to make my 3 year old hAppy. Food was good but not sure worth the price, not with other great options close by.
Breakfast buffet is excellent. The lunch is fine. But dinner service was subpar. Our server was not attentive and would rather have been somewhere else. The food was so-so but not worth the price. I would recommend many of the restaurants around the corner on Connecticut ave
The meal and service were both outstanding...And we had the breakfast buffet! I don't expect much for service during that type of meal, but as with everything else we experienced at the Omni, we were made to feel special. Everything we ate was beautifully displayed and lived up to it's looks with flavor. Delicious.
We have an upcoming conference at the Omni so decided to do some recon at their restaurant. The lobby is exquisite and the restaurant is right off the lobby with old world elegance. The server knew little about the menu items, seemed reluctant to get more information, and seemed to be making up his responses on the fly (can the sautéed pork chops be ordered grilled instead? Oh they are grilled, in the oven, after sautéing.) The crab bisque was barely warm with lots of crab shell pieces to pick out. My wife had the parpadelle with tomatoes. That was it - overdone pasta and tomatoes with some olive oil. I had the meatloaf, served with their 'homemade BBQ sauce.' Yes, it was - smothered in so much sauce that even after scraping off most, it still covered up any flavor of the meatloaf. it was accompanied by cold mashed potatoes and cold grilled zucchini. We hear that the brunch and breakfast buffets are exquisite, so maybe we'll recommend that to our conference attendees.
Very cheap foods, poorly prepared, poor service, over charged by $60 + dollars, charged 100% on beer($7.50 beer, + $ 7.50 beer tax), brought the wrong bill (for $2,160.96) - for three people? Couldn't eat the food. Shrimp was off/turned/spoiled. Veggies were dry and tasteless. Prime rib was ALL extra extra rare and bleeding all over the cutting table. And so on and on and on.

Robert's is a lovely space. The food was mediocre at best, and expensive. We ate in the pleasant, sun-filled dining room twice for breakfast. Too bad you can't eat ambiance. The first time, we arrived at 11:15 for a late breakfast/brunch, only to be told by the head waitress that the restaurant closed at 10:00. Mind you that we had called the front desk twice to confirm Robert's hours. After some awkward moments, we were finally seated and served a passing-grade breakfast -- Eggs Benedict that arrived tepid. The next day, we went to Robert's at 10 am just before checking out and again found the food passable at best, and hardly worth the price. This time I had an unexceptional order of French toast. The orange juice tasted fresh; the coffee though was old. There is simply no excuse for a restaurant in a hotel of this quality to perform at such an undistinguished level.
Overpriced,pretentious. Wait-staff almost pushed me out of the way twice. Omelette maker person was rude. Croissants were burned and I had to ask 3 different people for butter (at the bread station). Only positive thing was the view if you can sit outside. What a waste. Out of 5 stars we gave it 0.5
Service was poor. Server did not bother to clear our salad plate and soup bowl before serving our entrees; we had to move them out of the way. First time I had to eat a steak without a steak knife. Matched by equally poor standard of the food and presentation
Had breakfast there on morning of 12 September. Experience was awful. No organisation. We had to take cutlery etc from another table. Waitress did not know what planet she was on let alone which galaxy. Had to ask three times for tea. No explanation as to what they had or where to go. Cost was 50 dollars!!!!!!!!!
This is a great place to have a business meeting. The food is good and they are able to accommodate large groups. The noise level is very low so it allows for effective communication. The food is very good and they are willing to accommodate special requests.
Always love leisurely dining on the terrace with friends when in DC for my annual pilgrimage... consistent year after year... though probably not the place to go if you're in a hurry and, particularly, if there's something going on in the hotel. New menu selections inspired by old Shoreham menu selections are fun. Food generally well executed. Just an overall most pleasant dining experience.
Nice place and very kid-friendly. Conveniently located right of Rock Creek Parkway (with validated parking from the restaurant--a HUGE plus) and with a METRO stop nearby so our group was able to get there on foot, by car, and by METRO easily. Our server was knowledgeable and courteous and the food was good. Only downside was a very noisy banquet going on next door that made it difficult to hear the conversations at our own table, but the kids enjoyed seeing the Obama and Trump impersonators that walked through en route to the party.
This was my fourth time at the Robert's restaurant with a party of four. The food was dry, unimaginative despite being their signature dishes for years. I had the same for Christmas dinner and the food was superb. I wish I knew who was in the kitchen at the time. There was a convention going on and that may be the reason for the sloppy meal preparation.
Will try again.
Robert's Restaurant is a true gem. The atmosphere is quiet, reserved, and the perfect environment for business people. Conversations flow easily and are not over burdened by the poorly matched background music so common in other rooms in the city. Robert's has resisted the "sins" committed by so many former grand meeting rooms (The Willard and the former Hotel Washington - now the W). Their updates are best characterized as placing Grandma in a mini-skirt and wondering why the effect doesn't work. People who need to engage in a polite business discussions - find Robert's Restaurant a welcome oasis in a city that is in the middle of the too rushed transition by so many establishments to cater only to the 25 year old. Robert's at the Omni keeps it simple - it does what it does with grace and good service.
Staff was friendly and food was excellent. My two children, ages 5 and 10, were thrilled with their "kid table" that was set up with pastas, carrots, chicken fingers, etc, but were also warmly welcomed by the staff at all the other tables, carving table included. Upon leaving, a beautifully decorated cookie was given to each of them. Food was served at the proper temperature and made my tastebuds dance with delight! This may be our new Thanksgiving location.
Dined here because we were staying here. The menu was very appealing, but the kitchen and service seemed rather amateurish - soup was served at the same time as the appetizer, both of which really needed to be eaten warm - we had them send the appetizer back for rewarming. Same thing happened with the entree, only worse - the protein was hot but dried out and overlooked, while the vegetable bed was cold. We sent this dish back and insisted on a new preparation, not just a rewarming (which is what they would have done otherwise.). This time the entree was delicious and perfectly prepared. It's too bad they couldn't have done it right the first time. Tasty food, finally; poor quality control.
The Shoreham is a beautiful & well-maintained Grande Dame among Washington hotels, which makes this luncheon experience, hosting out-of-town guests, all-the-more disappointing. Service was slipshod, bordering on indifferent. The staff, from maitre d' to waiters appeared focused elsewhere. The crab cake was bland & the presentation of a salade entree was haphazard. It looked as if it had been run through a wind tunnel, prior to arrival at the table. The featured dessert, Biscuit Tortoni, came with vanilla wafers, rather than the classic amaretti cookies.
All-in-all, underwhelming. Sorry!
Our friend wanted to go here for brunch, and eat waffles, to celebrate her birthday. So we made a noon reservation. As we arrived, right about noon, we were told the buffet closes at noon so if we want breakfast we better be speedy.
I've never heard of a brunch buffet ending at noon. This is NOT that kind of brunch buffet. In fact, it was more like the very ordinary breakfast at any business traveler's hotel.
