MAX's Wine Dive - HoustonGreat as alwaysI keep coming back to try new dishes. We really enjoyed the new summer menu. Love it!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMy only concern is the sizeMy only concern is the size of the restaurant. It's in a very narrow space, so it's a bit tight when walking in and around. Other than that, it was great! Delicious food, nice variety, great and friendly service, and just enough "noise" so you don't feel annoyed or as if anyone can hear your conversation. Great, popular spot for brunch!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious crepesI was afraid that an order of 4 crepes with roasted bananas was too much food for brunch, so I asked for a half order. Big mistake. The crepes were not large and they were so delicious that I definitely could have eaten a full order. Five days later, I'm still thinking about those wonderful crepes. Will be back for more.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome HomeThis restaurant fused everything I love about the South in to one place. I had the famous fried chicken and I must say that it surpassed my expectations. The wine selection recommended by the waiter was right on point.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst VisitThis was my first visit and I love everything, the service, the knowledgeable staff, the atmosphere. I will be coming back several more times - as I must try the chicken fired lobster :-)6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood excellent, service wasFood excellent, service was good, took a while to get our meal though.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love it every time. The Fried Egg Sandwich is amazing! I need a fix every couple of weeks.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my 90+ mother there forTook my 90+ mother there for fried wings and champagne....thought it would be too noisy for her but SHE LOVED IT. She also said she would not want to do it on a weekly basis, but once a month would be fine with her. LOL! Great service...food...champagne! Thanks Max!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMNice spot--had to give it a chance! When I first entered it was very noisy but seemed to calm down a little once we were served. I am glad we stuck it out because it is some of the best, unique food in the area. Our server was fantastic and I have only good things to say about the place. I will be back again in the next week as I think this might me my new hang out.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food.I had the fried chicken and was loving it, but remembered a few years ago that the dish had a honey type sauce that came with it. When I asked the waiter he brought some of it out - and it makes the dish even better. Be sure to ask for it, because they don't serve it together anymore and only bring it out if you ask for it. My friend ordered the egg sandwich, which I thought was strange since we were there for dinner. But I tasted it and found out quickly that I would eat that at any meal. Can't wait to go back and try out even more food.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful find in mid-townFood was excellent. Service was very good. Wine selection was excellent. Quaint small place. I'll go back again.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Name Says It AllOur second time to enjoy Max's which does feel like an upscale dive with a good wine list. The famous Southern Fried Chicken which has been touted in Travel & Leisure as the best in America does not disappoint but if one does not like spicy, this is probably not the dish to order. The chicken is juicy, great spicy crust with flavorful, spicy collard greens and mashed potatoes. The sweet honey based gravy left me wanting some cream gravy but I still came away happy. My dining partner had a fabulous deep dish pizza " I Like Mine This Way" which was made with pancetta and other goodies. He said it was worth repeating.
We really prefer to sit at the bar here because the music is so loud , it is the only way we can converse during dinner.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday celebration reviewOverall, the experience was good. I was not pleased that Max's Wine Dive accepted my reservation for 6 people, but stuck us in a tight booth with little to no room for comfort. They should not accept reservations for larger gropus if they can't seat that many together and/or comfortably.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Brunch! This restaurant has been on my radar for a long time, but I finally went on Saturday and it was phenomenal. I had the Creme Bruless French Toast which I think was the best French Toast I've ever had, and the rest of my family had the omelettes and the "RVP" (Red Velvet Pancakes), which looked equally amazing. I would also highly recommend the grapefruit juice mimosas - they're even better than your standard orange juice mimosas. The restaurant is small, so it doesn't hurt to make a reservation, but it has a great ambience and the service was excellent. All in all I definitely recommend Max's and will be coming back here soon!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNeed to change menu. It isNeed to change menu. It is same thing for brunch. Food is still great especially greens.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy Sunday BrunchEnjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch with a friend, the eggs Benedict was fantastic. There aren't many tables and it is very very popular, we made reservations and highly encourage others to do so as well. It was packed to capacity!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyI always enjoy brunch love the energy in they an the music!the staff is great5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOops I Took My 6 Yr Old To Happy HrI love the food! The chicken, max 'n cheese, nacho oysters & appetizer onion rings are downright addictive. I just have to order carry out from now on because it's definitely a "hang out" spot for adults & not a family restaurant (I know, "wine" in the name of the restaurant should have been my hint!). I'm usually having dinner with my 6 year old daughter but our "dinner time" is Max's happy hour ...complete with loud music & lots of alcoholic drinks being served. I'm not saying anything bad about the restaurant. I love the restaurant but it just doesn't work for us to dine-in. My daughter also loves to eat the chicken or the shrimp. Hats off to the chef!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day OutingGreat mimosas for a great price! Will definitely be back for brunch!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding PlaceA co-worker and I loved Max's Wine Dine... it was an outstanding place to meet great people and the Wine selection is amazing and OMG! the food was to die for. Max's is now the official happy hour location for our Corporation!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat every time.I know that there are a lot of great brunches in Houston, but my wife and I haven't found a reason to go anyplace else.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Night OutI had the gluten free lasagna, which was fantastic! I devoured the whole thing, and downed it with a nice cabernet. My husband had the chicken breasts with wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil. It was absolutely delicious! Our "Night Out" was delightful and deliciously satisfying. We will be back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoving coming back over and over...Maxs is staple in my book of a restaurants. They provide an energetic atmosphere, great food and wonderful service. Speaking of the food...they always provide something that is unique, and a taste that blows me away. I always try to bring guests that visit out of town here so they can experience one of Houstons finest gems! I first started coming to the Houston location about seven years ago and since then have been to the Dallas location. Love Maxs!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time at wine dive!!My wife and I generally do the same 2 or 3 things on our date nights so I wanted to do something a little different. I spent a large time of my evening looking at different places around down town Houston online and readng reviews. My wife loves to try differen types of wine and when I read the great, and some not so good, reviews on Max Wine Dive I decided it was the place for us. Everything about this place was outstanding. The service was great, our server was very knowledgeable on the menu items including the wine, and every employee we spoke to was extremely friendly. The service was quick, the food was fantastic and we were both very happy with our experience there. We will be visiting again in the future.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSpottyThis place is nice inside. The food is good, but it is a bit pricey, $8.00 for cornbread. The parking situation is the biggest draw back to this place. I was lucky to get a spot after having to move three times. Providing a place to park in the back fo the place would be great and create less of a hassle for the customer.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceAmazing waiter, very knowledgable and friendly. Warm and fun environment.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite placesOne of my favorite places for brunch. Phenomenal food and fantastic wine/champagne list. Most recent visit didn't disappoint. Love that their brunch begins on Friday.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAs a first time guest I mustAs a first time guest I must say I was delighted and highly impressed! Prior to visiting, I had heard so many good things about the restaurant. It was refreshing to finally find a restaurant that lived up to the hype! The wife and I are definitely looking forward to going back!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch is excellent andThe brunch is excellent and great service, it can get busy but that means the food is worth the wait4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMmm mmm good! The food (fried chicken plate, RVP and jalapeño cornbread pancakes and wings) was excellent and was only outdone by the service. My friends and I had a great time and will definitely be returning to try more of the menu. It was not too busy which helped the experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMAX's Wine Dive was the perfectMAX's Wine Dive was the perfect choice for Sunday brunch. There are plenty of food options to satisfy every palate. The service was excellent as well. Making the reservation was very easy. I would highly recommend this restaurant!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat placeSome of the best chicken and collard greens ever. It was so good my friend and I returned on Sunday for brunch. I also had the fried egg sandwich and that was wonderful. My friend got the lasagna and it was at least 7 layers, huge serving and delicious. The waiter told us the lasagna takes 72 hours to prepare. I'd highly recommend, but get a reservation, they were packed both days.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch!Brunch was delicious and well priced. The red velvet pancakes are to die for. I can't wait to go back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good wine, lots of fun!For those diners that like wine as well as good food, Max's Wine Dive is a place to try. It's informal setting and attentative staff help the diner "find" what he or she likes. The dining room is energetic, but not so noisy that diners can't converse with each other. The food is "quirky down home" food, mostly simple, ordinary ingredients such as eggs, bacon, grits, various breads, greens, etc,. combined in "over-the-top" ways. The wine selection was extensive but not overwhelming, with mostly boutique wines to choose from. The decor added to the "fun factor" with many humorous lines posted in various formats on all walls. I enjoyed my fiirst experience at Max's, & I will do it again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMore of the same awesomenessI have been coming to Max's Wine Dive for some time now and it is amazing each time.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI love pretty food! The food presentations are impeccable! Missed out on the chicken wings this time...will get an earlier reservation next time!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best place in HoustonI absolutely love this place!! It is original, the food is unique and the specials are very creative. I have introduced several people to this place over the years and I have never been disappointed. The cute little sayings on the shirts and the comfortable laid back feel is a breath of fresh air!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for brunch, and itWe went for brunch, and it was awesome! Food, mimosas, and service were great (ask for Brian he was awesome)!
